With a usable energy capacity of 15kWh, a peak discharge of 200A for three minutes, and a wide operating temperature range (-20°C to 65°C), the battery now reliably powers an incubator, vaccine refrigerator, surgical lights, and a C-arm X-ray unit simultaneously. The system’s remote data logging and firmware upgrade capability allow technicians in Kisumu city to monitor performance in real time.

“This is a lifesaver,” Dr. Omondi declares. “For the first time, we have 24/7 power. The battery’s 15-year design life and 6000-cycle rating mean we can focus on saving lives instead of replacing batteries.” The Kenyan Ministry of Energy has taken note, with plans to deploy similar units in 50 additional off-grid health facilities across the country.
