Scaling Up in the Land of Smiles – A High-Volume Hub for Thailand's EV Revolution

Client: "Siam Volts," a joint venture between a Thai industrial conglomerate and a global automotive parts supplier.
Target Country: Thailand (Eastern Economic Corridor)
Project Goal: Build a large-scale, high-efficiency plant to supply prismatic batteries to the growing network of EV manufacturers in the region.

The Challenge & The Vision: Becoming ASEAN's EV Battery Hub

Thailand is aggressively positioning itself as the EV production center of Southeast Asia, offering substantial subsidies covering 30-50% of plant setup costs to attract battery manufacturers . Siam Volts aimed to capitalize on this, but needed a solution that could:

  1. Meet High Standards: Qualify for government incentives required energy density of >150 Wh/kg and a cycle life of >1,000 cycles .

  2. Ensure High Volume & Speed: The plant needed to achieve high production throughput (PPM - parts per minute) to supply major automotive assembly lines just-in-time.

  3. Integrate Advanced Technology: The client sought a line capable of producing next-generation cells, including those for hybrid vehicles requiring robust charge-discharge cycles .

Our Solution: A Turnkey Factory for High-Performance Production

We proposed a complete turnkey solution, from material handling to final formation, centered around our high-speed, high-performance prismatic cell line.

  • Idea & Design: Working with Thai BOI (Board of Investment) regulations, we designed a layout that maximized the 30-50% setup cost subsidy . We specified the line for both high-energy density NMC and cost-effective LFP chemistries, giving Siam Volts flexibility for different EV customers. The design heavily featured our Auto Stacking Machine (using the Z-stacking technique) to ensure the high energy density and stability required for both BEVs and HEVs .

  • Installation & Debugging: The installation was a complex 3-month project involving a 60-person crew . The biggest technical hurdle was integrating the Deionized Water Machine and Nitrogen Generating Unit with the local utility supply to ensure consistent quality.
